5 Things You Need To Know Before Renting a Dumpster

Dumpsters are rented all the time by homeowners and businessmen for a cleaning, renovation or even a construction project. Renting a dumpster is a convenient and safe way to dump all your waste in one place without having to use multiple trash bags or other resources that can accommodate your waste. If you’re thinking of getting a dumpster rental service for that big project you’re planning, there are a few things you need to know and take care of before you sign the deal.

#1: Consult First

Don’t go marching in a dumpster rental service without a proper plan in mind. Sit and talk with the experts about your project and what exactly it is you need from the dumpster they’ll lend you. You need to estimate the waste your project will produce so you can choose the appropriate size, the space in your property where you can park the dumpster and the exact timing and schedule of when you want the dumpster rented and when you’ll be handing it back.

A proper plan can go a long way so don’t rush into anything without a proper consultation session first.

#2: Be Punctual

As mentioned before, you need to have a proper plan and schedule for your project. Dumpster rental services will require a specific time period wherein they can rent out their dumpster. If you’re late or miss your appointment, you might have to reschedule your entire project.

#3: Sort the Waste

Before dumping anything in your dumpster mindlessly, it’s a good idea to sort out the trash. One way to do this is to separate the trash that can be recycled from the trash that cannot be recycled. Separate the remaining trash on the basis of whether anything is hazardous or not. Hazardous materials cannot be thrown into dumpsters and are considered unlawful.

#4: Recycle!

Many good dumpster rental services offer a recycling program where they help recycle your trash for you. But you could also drop off your recyclable materials yourself at a nearby recycling center.

#5: Don’t Overfill

Overfilling is not only against the rules but is also a major health hazard. Most dumpsters will come with a clear demarcation of the space limit beyond which will be considered overfilling. If the dumpster absolutely cannot accommodate more trash then consider renting a second one or make use of your municipal trash bins or bags.
